Licensed Clinical Therapist
Amy Gartner | she / her / hers
I am a Licensed Clinical Therapist with over 30 years’ experience! I am
immensely grateful for the privilege of walking with clients like you on the
powerful journey of therapy! I have expertise in treating Complex Trauma,
Grief Recovery, Emotional Eating, Healing Shame, and Life Transitions.
I approach each individual client with the assumption that you are coming
to me with an intention to alleviate some discontent or suffering. I believe
in the healing power of relationships. I provide the opportunity for you to
safely process and articulate your current challenges. Together we can
facilitate change to enhance the quality and enjoyment of your life.
I believe that serious mental illness does exist, however, I understand that
many individuals seeking counseling do so to deal with life challenges that
are not a result of mental illness. Sometimes we need an empathetic
professionally trained therapist to guide us on our journey. This expresses
my belief that I am not treating illness as much as enhancing strengths,
assisting in the development of self-awareness, and freeing you to make
more life affirming choices and leave destructive or negative patterns
behind.
I am a relationally based insight-oriented therapist. What does that
mean? Central to the relational therapy approach is the idea that we are
shaped by our social world and relationships. Having healthy relationships
is essential for our wellbeing and self-esteem. We heal in connection!
Insight oriented therapy encourages clients to analyze and understand how
events of the past create current behaviors, thoughts and feelings.
Therapy with me provides a healthy, safe relationship that will allow
vulnerability and healing.
I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist. I use this tool to help you process the struggles that you cannot think your way out of. Brainspotting is a focused treatment modality that helps us process and release trauma and pain at a deeper level. It uses the brain and the body to identify, process, and release emotional pain and trauma.
I am a nurturing, compassionate, trustworthy therapist with a sense of humor that will put you at ease. I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal and live a full empowered life!
